Puke, Urinary Tract Infections and Other Assorted Fun

By Shay

Zeke has had a bit of a cold recently. There’s lots of stuff going around, though – I know a couple people that have strep throat and I know a lot of people have been having trouble with allergies. He woke up the night before last coughing very hard and eventually coughed so much he threw up…everywhere! I had to completely strip his bed and wash him off. But he acted like he felt better afterwards. His stuffed animals are still a bit smelly and I’m not sure what to use on them to get the smell out. They can’t go in the washer so I wiped them clean with baby wipes and spot cleaned with water and a mild soap, but they still have a faintly puke-y odor. Zeke seems to be doing better today. He’s still sniffling some but he’s pretty active and looks like he feels better.

My midwife got my labs back today (they sent some of my pee off to be tested the other day because it had some nitrites in it) and guess what? I have a UTI. Ugh! I hate UTI’s. They are no fun, let me tell you. I think part of the problem is that I’m not drinking enough water. My midwife told me to try and drink 10 eight ounce glasses of water a day and I really need to do that. I have to go pick up my medicine at the pharmacy a little later.

I am going to attempt to take Zeke to Vacation Bible School at my parent’s church tonight. He hasn’t been doing well around crowds recently but we’ll see how he does tonight, I guess.

I am going to be chronicling my adventures in planning for Zeke’s birthday party that’s coming up on the 17th. I’ve given out almost all the invitations. We’re having a train-themed party. I am going to be making the cake myself (Eeek!) so it’s going to be quite an experience, I think. Well, not entirely by myself…I’m going to rope my Hubby into helping too. He’s a good cook. I’m also going to try and make some appetizers from recipes I got off of Food Network.

Good luck with the party and the UTI – yeck. My little one threw up ALL the time. He is just now getting to be normal. I think he had an under-developed esophagus or something. So I know about puke-y smells! There is not much else you can do with stuffed animals, so you did good!
