Wooohooo! My friend over at Mama Needs a Hobby gave me this Lovely Blog Award! Thank you so much!
The rules of this award are:
Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award, and his or her blog link. Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you’ve newly discovered. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.
So here’s my picks for this award – although I don’t think I’ll have 15! I’m notifying them via Twitter. Most of these I have either just started reading & really like what I see or I’ve been reading for awhile & they deserve some recognition!
- Simply Recipes
- Harvest of Daily Life
- Natural Moms Talk Radio Blog
- Mama Needs a Hobby (it didn’t say anything about not being able to give it to the person who gave it to you!)
- Far Above Rubies

Autumn is my all time favorite season. I love the crunching leaves, the slight chill in the air, Halloween, cook-outs, getting out my colder weather clothes out, hay rides and all the other fun things that accompany this season. One thing I don’t love however is the seasonal colds & coughs that come with it. I myself have done pretty well so far – granted, it’s only the end of September – but considering everybody else in the family is sick and I’m not, I’m doing great. Usually someone sneezes seven miles away and I get sick. I did feel a little stuffy this morning but nothing near as bad as usual. The kids have the full run of it – snotty dripping noses, watery eyes, constant sneezing and a touch of a cough. They don’t let it run them down, though. Zeke threw a huge fit because I kept him home from preschool yesterday. Isn’t it funny how as adults we just want to lay around or sleep and kids just want to keep on going? If you’re suffering from the seasonal sickness (and I’m sure most of you will be at one point or another as fall creeps in) just remember to drink lots of fluids, get out your humidifer and order up the chicken noodle soup!

The kids have been sick and I was pretty busy yesterday so I’m combining my Gratitude Challenges from today & yesterday into today’s post. Day Six was: Take a few minutes to call someone you haven’t talked to in a while. Tell them how much you appreciate them.
I did a bit of a spin on this one. I had a friend going through a crisis yesterday that I tried to help out & I also let know how much I appreciated her friendship.
Day Seven is: Take a picture of one thing, person, place or specific moment that makes you feel grateful. Share it with your social network.

Two just bathed, smiling happy kiddos (Well, Z is smiling anyway, haha)

Today’s Gratitude Challenge is:
Take five minutes to write about how grateful you are for all of the wonderful things that you currently have in your life. Don’t long for what you don’t possess—instead, take stock of all the blessings you already enjoy.
I am very fortunate to have and own a lot of nice things. I live in a very nice house that provides me with shelter, comfort and lots of space for all my possessions. There’s food on our table and we eat at lots of different restaurants from time to time. I own various forms of entertainment – the internet, tv, magazines, music, game systems, books, among other things. I have (way too many, according to my husband) clothes and shoes. I have a nice vehicle that I can drive whenever I want. I have a big comfy bed to sleep in every night. My children have nice clothes, toys and their own rooms. I have a hard-working husband who is able to provide a lot of these things for me.

Today’s Gratitude Challenge is: Write a short message of thanks for some of the “negative” things in your life.
The negativity I’ve seen in people recently just makes me want to be a more positive person and not dwell in my problems like other people seem to. They waste so much energy on being angry or upset when they could be solving the problem or just getting over it & moving on. Life moves so fast – why spend it being unhappy?
The challenges that come with parenting (tantrums & fits, lags of crying, behavior issues, etc.) help me to learn more about my children and to become a better parent. They seem like huge things when you’re going through them but you WILL get through them!
The struggles I have in my marriage and other relationships help me to form stronger bonds with those people. We learn (hopefully! haha) to understand each other better and how better to communicate with one another.

Today’s Gratitude Challenge is: Write about something you feel grateful for in your life today.
Today I am very grateful for the Momma friends I have in my life. When I have a horrible day or the kids have just been in one of those moods, I know I have someone that I can text, call or drop an email to who cares about me AND who actually understands how I’m feeling. It’s a simple thing but one that is very helpful to me. It’s really nice to have people you can connect to and who understand you.
